“Elf: The Broadway Musical” will be Dec. 10 at the Performing Arts Center in McAllen.
In October, McAllen city officials and Adam Epstein, CEO of Innovations Art and Entertainment, a company known for delivering unforgettable theatrical experiences and amazing dynamic live engagements, announced a fantastic coup for the Rio Grande Valley. Starting this fall, the new Performing Arts Center in McAllen has booked a series of Broadway touring shows. The $45 million Performing Arts Center is set to open in the fall of 2016.
With the building of this center, the City of McAllen shows its commitment to enhancing the arts and cultural experiences in the region. They wish to bring a better variety of entertainment and live performances what have never before possible in South Texas. Among other features, the Center has approximately 1,800 seats, adjustable acoustics to accommodate popular music and symphonic music and a multi-purpose theater with over 2,300 square feet of usable space. Director of the convention facilities for McAllen promised that “this is just a beginning of the long list of impressive technology the center will provide.”
The Broadway in McAllen series started in October with the production of “Annie.” Coming up next is “Elf: The Broadway Musical” on Dec. 10; “Jersey Boys” on Feb. 7, 2017; “The Illusionist: Live From Broadway” on March 12, and ‘Dirty Dancing” on April 29. Season tickets are available starting at $99. Benefits for those electing to purchase the season tickets include prime seating , not needing to wait in line since all tickets are mailed at one time and being able to get tickets replaced for free.
The center will also feature a “Live in McAllen” series. The series is the creation of a collaboration between Innovation Arts & Entertainment and the City of McAllen. The Live series promises to bring headliners and family shows of all types. This series will kick off in December with the one and only Tony Bennet performing live. Season tickets for the Live in McAllen series range from $40 to $150, depending on the show and seat types.
